Seoul Dental Association elects 39th President

South Korea: Kang Hyeon-gu has been elected as the 39th president of the Seoul Dental Association with 1,543 votes (53.04%). Yoon Jeong-tae, who fought a close battle until the end, was defeated with only 1,366 votes (46.96%). The final voter turnout was 73.39%, with 2,909 out of 3,964 voters participating.

Kang Hyeon-gu, who held key positions at the Seoul branch, including general affairs director, vice president, and SIDEX organizing committee chairman, and is currently serving as the chairman of the Hana Happiness Sharing Volunteer Association, said, “The past six years have been a valuable opportunity to look back on my shortcomings and look at the affairs of others from the member’s point of view.”

“Difference in Details”

In his victory speech, Chairman-elect Kang Hyeon-gu said, “I will do my best to leave with applause in 3 years,” and expressed his will to pour his long experience and know-how into the business, emphasizing that “a vague and non-specific promise is a deception to the members. I will definitely show the difference in details.”

In separate speeches, Vice Chairman-elect Shin Dong-yeol and Vice Chairman-elect Ham Dong-seon said they will put all their energy into improving the advertising problems one by one, such as labour shortages, management difficulties, and low prices that are threatening neighborhood dentists, and will do their best to listen carefully to the voices of all members and keep the promises made for the next three years.

Despite the six-year hiatus, members’ expectations are rising as to how Chairman-elect Kang Hyeon-gu’s emphasis on the “difference in details” will shine. The newly elected officials are expected to work hard to address various issues in the field of dentistry in Seoul.
