State-of-the-Art Facilities Unveiled at University of Sharjah
PAKISTAN: Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, has officially opened a new complex of advanced orthodontic clinics designed for master’s students at the College of Dentistry. This development marks a significant step forward in dental education and patient care in the emirate.
Cutting-Edge Equipment for Comprehensive Training
During his tour of the facility, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed inspected the newly launched clinics, which boast the latest in dental technology. The complex comprises 12 specialised clinics dedicated to orthodontic services, equipped with state-of-the-art devices and technologies.
A university spokesperson explained the purpose of these clinics, stating, “Their primary goal is to impart basic and advanced skills to Master’s students in patient care, diagnostic techniques, and clinical skills at an advanced level of competence.”
Centre of Excellence Expansion
In addition to the new student clinics, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed also visited the Centre of Excellence for Dentistry at the University Dental Hospital. The centre has undergone a significant expansion, with the addition of six new clinics, bringing the total to 12.
This expansion enhances the centre’s capacity to provide comprehensive dental services to a diverse patient base, including elderly individuals and children. The centre is staffed by faculty members from the College of Dentistry, including specialist doctors and consultants.
Wide Range of Dental Services
The Centre of Excellence offers an extensive array of dental treatments, including:
- Oral and dental surgery
- Dental implants
- Fixed and removable prostheses
- Root canal treatment
- Dental fillings
- Orthodontics
- 3D x-ray imaging
Community Impact
One notable achievement of the centre has been its service to the elderly community. A representative from the centre reported, “The centre has served 1,478 patients enrolled in the Social Services Department’s program for the elderly, totalling 8,421 visits since the program’s inception in collaboration with the University of Sharjah two years ago.”
Focus on Paediatric Dentistry
During his visit, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed also toured the general dentistry and paediatric dentistry clinics at the hospital. These facilities are specifically designed to cater to the unique needs of young patients, providing specialised care in a child-friendly environment.
The inauguration of these advanced dental facilities at the University of Sharjah underscores the emirate’s commitment to excellence in both dental education and patient care. As these new clinics begin operations, they are poised to play a crucial role in shaping the future of dentistry in Sharjah and beyond.
