Shining 3D and Peking University review partnership

China: The 2022 meeting between Peking University School of Stomatology and Shining 3D recently held at Shining 3D headquarters located in Hangzhou concluded successfully, according to a press release by Shining 3D.

The bilateral meeting was organized to summarize the cooperation of the two parties and review the achievements over the first half of the year.

Representatives from both parties

The university delegation included Prof Sun Yuchun and his research team from the Digital Research Center of Stomatology, Peking University Stomatological Hospital; Zhai Wenru, Office Director of Peking University Stomatology; and Chen Hu, Deputy Chief Physician of Peking University Stomatological Hospital

Led by Chairman and CEO Li Tao, the Shining 3D team included members of the senior management, R&D, business development, and school-enterprise teams.

In addition, personnel from Shining 3D Oral Digital and Intelligent Diagnosis Joint Laboratory also attended the event.

Strategic partnership gaining depth and breadth

Delivering the welcome speech, Li reiterated the company’s commitment to supporting the popularization and application of high-precision 3D digital technology in the dental field.

“The company insists on technological innovation as the vitality of enterprise development. Peking University School of Stomatology has always been an important strategic partner of Shining 3D.

“In particular, the establishment of the joint laboratory, under the leadership and guidance of Prof Sun Yuchun, the laboratory’s scientific research work has enabled the two parties to carry out more in-depth cooperation in basic research on digital oral cavity, 3D scanning technology and exploration of application scenarios.”

Li also praised the active role that the Oral Specialized Committee of the China Medical Device Industry Association played in promoting the integration of “production, education, research and application” between the school and the enterprise.

Pushing boundaries of product technology

According to Wen Peizheng, Marketing Director of Shining 3D Dental Digital Division, Shining 3D dental products and services cover more than 10,000 dental outpatient centres around the world.

The Shining 3D dental cloud platform is linked to more than 3,000 denture factories across China, and has delivered over one million cases to Chinese dental practices and dental hospitals.

“It is hoped that through cooperation, we will jointly push the boundaries of product technology to a new height, optimize the digital process of the dental industry chain, and promote innovation in the dental industry,” added the marketing leader.

Joint innovation and success

As the head of the Peking University Stomatology and Shining 3D Oral Digital and Intelligent Diagnosis Joint Laboratory, Prof Sun Yuchun presented on the status of the joint laboratory, touching on its R&D achievements and vision for the next stage of digital dentistry.

“In domestic product innovation,” he adds, “we must break from the path of  dependence and change lanes to overtake.”

In an aging society, he continues, it is not only necessary to live long, but also to live well.

As one of the rapidly developing sub-tracks of the medical service industry, the development of oral medicine in recent years has shown an explosive growth trend,” he says.

“Intraoral scanners, as the upstream key link of digital diagnosis and treatment, provide accelerated power for the development and reform of digital dentistry.

Based on the current trend of digital dental diagnosis and treatment, this conference showcases the clinical indications and advantages of the Shining 3D intraoral scanner, as well as the innovative functions to be launched in the future.”
