Sonendo Launches Second-Generation CleanFlow™ Procedure Instrument

Sonendo, the developer of GentleWave®, has unveiled its second-generation CleanFlow™ Procedure Instrument, bringing significant improvements to root canal treatments.

The updated release boasts an upgraded design and an enhanced matrix system, promising to elevate the effectiveness and user-friendliness of the GentleWave Procedure, as highlighted in a recent company press release.

Streamlined Root Canal Treatment

The revamped matrix system not only simplifies the root canal treatment process but also ensures a secure and long-lasting seal, ensuring consistency throughout the procedure. This development aims to enhance the experience for both clinicians and patients. The redesigned design allows dental professionals to use a single instrument for all teeth, streamlining their workflow and optimizing overall treatment efficiency.

Dr. Luis Missura of Precision Endodontics expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “The CleanFlow Procedure Instrument with the new matrix has been unparalleled in consistency and ease of use. The GentleWave Procedure provides reliable, comfortable, uncompromising disinfection that yields some of the best clinical results I’ve seen.”

Expanding Application

Last month, Sonendo announced a pivotal update, revealing that the CleanFlow Procedure Instrument is now approved for use on anterior teeth, replacing the legacy Anterior Pre-Molar Procedure Instrument. This, in conjunction with the latest matrix system and optimized design, underscores Sonendo’s commitment to creating high-quality, refined products that drive innovation in dental care.

Michael Smith, Chief Commercial Officer of Sonendo said: “Our goal is to help clinicians navigate the challenges of root canal therapy and provide exceptional patient care. We are confident this optimized design and enhanced matrix are the final step towards our goal of simplifying our portfolio through one procedure instrument.”

Gentle Approach to Root Canal Procedures

The GentleWave System, recognised as the sole United States Food and Drug Administration-cleared system for root canal procedures, employs a sterilised, single-use procedure instrument. This instrument enables thorough cleaning and disinfection inside the root canal, leading to safer and more effective procedures.

Effective disinfection and cleaning are critical due to the intricate structure of the root canal and its microscopic spaces that can harbour bacteria.

With the introduction of the second-generation CleanFlow Procedure Instrument, it becomes the sole instrument required for the GentleWave System to treat all teeth. This development aims to be a game-changer for both clinicians and patients, enabling one-handed procedures and enhancing the efficacy of root canal treatments while minimising post-treatment discomfort and promoting efficient healing.
