Tokyo Dentist Arrested for Indecent Assault on Patient

Japan: A 75-year-old male dentist, identified as Tokisato Yanagi, has been arrested by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police on suspicion of quasi-indecent assault.

The arrest warrant issued by the Mukojima Police Station states that the incident took place on May 16th at approximately 3:20 pm within Yanagi’s dental clinic. The victim, a woman in her 50s, was undergoing dental treatment when the dentist allegedly placed his genitals on her left cheek.

Victim’s Account

The patient reported that during the procedure, her eyes were covered with a towel.  However, she sensed an unfamiliar contact on her left cheek, and upon removing the towel discovered that it was Yanagi’s genitals. Subsequently, she contacted the emergency number 110 after returning home to report the incident.

The suspect, who is the 75-year-old director of the dental clinic known as “Apple Dental” in Sumida Ward, faces charges for engaging in an indecent act against a female patient while administering treatment for dental caries.

At the time of the incident, only Yanagi and the female patient were present in the examination room, while the suspect’s wife occupied the reception desk.

During the subsequent interrogation, Yanagi confessed to the allegations, acknowledging that “had feelings for the woman and couldn’t control his emotions.”

The Tokyo Metropolitan Police’s arrest of the dental clinic director has raised concerns and highlights the importance of maintaining professionalism and ensuring patient safety within medical environments.
