VOCO has received FDA 510k clearance for its new V-Print Splint Comfort 3D print resin, which is designed for the production of clear, strong, and thermo-flexible therapeutic splints and night guards. The company describes the biocompatible 3D printing resin as being durable and esthetic, as well as allowing for a precise fit to the teeth for optimal patient comfort.

Features of V-Print Splint Comfort Resin

A press release from VOCO states that the V-Print Splint Comfort resin has high flexural strength and excellent wear resistance that permits the fabrication of devices as thin as 1mm. The easy-to-polish V-Print Splint Comfort is reportedly clear, color-stable and odorless. All V-Print resins are sedimentation-free and therefore do not require shaking or “rolling” prior to use, according to VOCO.

The resin has a neutral flavor and its 385 nm wavelength allows aesthetically pleasing clear-transparent print says the manufacturer. Moreover, the high degree of precision allows for an accurate fit for highly comfortable wear.

Compatible with Many Open-Source 3D Printers

V-Print Splint is part of a large and growing line of 3D printer materials from the manufacturer. It is engineered to work with, as well as validated for, a growing number of open-source 3D printers that include Asiga, Ackuretta, Dental Wings, RapidShape, Microlay, MiiCraft, Shera, Straumann and Solflex. Additionally, like all V-Print resins, it is included in the design software from 3Shape and exocad.

The resin is suitable for the production of therapeutic splints, auxiliary parts, and functional parts for diagnostics, as well as bleaching splints for home bleaching.
