Vatech Incorporates AI-Powered 3D CBCT Segmentation

Vatech, a prominent player in the dental medical device industry, is embarking on an ambitious journey to integrate cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) technologies into dental diagnosis. In a strategic collaboration with Ewoosoft, a dental software company, and Eyes of AI, an AI firm specializing in 3D CBCT segmentation, Vatech is jointly researching and developing AI technology to estimate various clinical tissue areas, including teeth, using artificial neural network system training.

“As a leading company in the global dental CT market, Vatech is accelerating the development and implementation of various AI technologies to enhance the accuracy of dental diagnosis and treatment convenience,” said Seong-il Choi, Head of Research at Vatech.

Unlocking Precise Anatomical Information

Vatech’s objective is to enhance the accuracy of 3D dental segmentation technology by leveraging the abundant CBCT data owned by Eyes of AI. Through this collaborative effort, Vatech aims to accurately segment a wider range of clinical structures, such as teeth, roots, and nerves, using AI. The visualized anatomical information obtained through AI segmentation will facilitate more precise information provision for procedures like implant surgery and nerve therapy.

Beyond segmentation, Vatech plans to implement AI for additional functionalities, including generating virtual patients to assist in dental treatment and counseling. Integration with commercially available services for detecting conditions such as dental caries, inflammation, and tumors will allow viewing of AI detection results directly in the viewer.

“We aim to reduce the time spent on treatment preparation, enabling dentists to devote more time to improving the quality of dental treatment and services,” Choi added.

Furthermore, Vatech is developing AI technologies for image noise reduction and image resolution enhancement, further enhancing the diagnostic capabilities of dental imaging.

Comprehensive Dental Imaging Solutions

Vatech, a global leader in dental CT and the pioneer of dental X-ray equipment in South Korea, manufactures a comprehensive lineup of dental imaging products, ranging from Intra Oral X-Ray devices to High-end CT scanners, as well as software for image diagnosis and patient counseling.

With its innovative approach to AI integration, Vatech is poised to revolutionize dental diagnostics, enabling more accurate and efficient treatment planning while enhancing the overall quality of dental care.
