Viome Life Sciences Launches Oral Health Pro At-Home Testing Kit for Oral Health

Viome Life Sciences has unveiled an at-home testing kit called Oral Health Pro designed for both patients and dental professionals. This test utilizes a patient’s saliva to assess gene expressions and cells present in the oral cavity. 

By analyzing the collected samples, the test is reportedly able to provide valuable insights into various aspects of oral health, including markers for oral diseases such as oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC). Notably, according to a press release, Viome reports a cancer-free specificity of greater than or equal to 95%, with OSCC and OPSCC sensitivity exceeding 90%.

RNA Sequencing and AI for Diagnostic Accuracy

Oral Health Pro harnesses Viome’s proprietary RNA sequencing technology and artificial intelligence (AI) platform. This combination enables the identification of underlying signals that may be overlooked by other tests, says Viome. By leveraging RNA sequencing and AI, the test aims to enhance diagnostic accuracy, providing comprehensive information about a patient’s oral health status.

Once patients have completed the saliva test, they can send their samples to Viome’s laboratory for analysis. Viome will then measure various markers and molecular features associated with OSCC and OPSCC. In addition to standard results, Viome offers patients a personalized treatment plan, aiming to facilitate closer collaboration between healthcare providers and their patients.

Oral Health Scores

One of the key features of Oral Health Pro is the provision of Oral Health Scores. These scores enable clinicians to identify areas where patients may require improvement or assistance. Patients can expect to receive their results within a timeframe of up to four weeks.
