Australian Government Boosts Funding for Royal Flying Doctor Service

AUSTRALIA: The Government has announced additional funding of $29.1 million for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), aiming to enhance its capacity to deliver essential health services to Australians across the nation.

This funding boost will enable the RFDS to conduct more critical emergency aeromedical evacuations, expand primary health clinics, provide dental care, and offer mental health services, with a focus on rural, regional, and remote communities.

Expansion of Services and Infrastructure

The allocation of $29.1 million will allow the RFDS to extend its reach and impact, particularly benefiting residents of rural and regional areas as well as remote First Nations communities.

Additionally, the government is investing $1 million to establish a permanent healthcare clinic in William Creek, South Australia, through the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program. This clinic will serve as a dedicated health hub, equipped to facilitate the RFDS fly-in teams in providing comprehensive care to patients, including consultations via video link.
