Dentimax launches Open Sensor

Dentimax has announced the release of its new Open Sensor, designed to work with existing software for easier integration into the system.

According to the company’s Senior Vice President Chad Camac in a press release, Open Sensor works natively with the user’s current system.

“It’s so easy with the Open Sensor because it operates natively with your current system,” said Camac.

“There is no need to learn new software or retrain your staff–it just works!”

Subscription-based distribution model

Designed to offer high quality X-rays while still being an affordable option for dental professionals,  the new Open Sensor works on a subscription-based distribution model. As the name suggests, both the sensor and software of Open Sensor are deliberately designed to be open, according to David J Arnett, DentiMax’s president.

“It has been a lot of work on our part to make that happen. A lot of systems unintentionally, and in some cases intentionally have made their software closed. And so, we purposely made our sensor and our software open,” he said.

“Having an open sensor is pretty cool. For a dental office to have to adopt new software to use a new sensor means the whole staff might have to be retrained, which is a big deal.

Plug-and-play sensor

“Think of all the time and effort you perhaps spent to train your hygienist, your dental assistants, maybe your associate dentist, to learn to use your initial system.

“With our open sensor, it is going to work like your current sensor that you already have, it’s really just plug-and-play. We work with virtually all the systems on the market. We’re an open sensor. We are going to work with what you have.”

Distributed through the Open Sensor Club, which is a subscription club that allows for $99 per month/sensor with a one-time $499 sensor signup fee.

As part of this subscription, installation, training, tech support, a lifetime warranty, and accident forgiveness, will all be provided for Open Sensor subscribers.
