J. MORITA USA Unveils Tri Auto ZX2+ Upgraded Endodontic Handpiece

US: J. MORITA USA, a provider of endodontic products, has introduced the Tri Auto ZX2+, an advanced endodontic handpiece featuring a built-in apex locator. This new model is cordless and incorporates several upgraded features, including support for reciprocation files and the new Optimum Glide Path 2 (OGP2) mode, which is designed to enhance safety and ease of use for dental professionals.

Optimum Glide Path 2 Mode

The OGP2 mode includes a reciprocating feature that reduces file binding and minimizes the risk of files breaking within the root canal. According to MORITA, it allows dentists to maintain the original shape of the root canal even in curved or narrow canals. The Tri Auto ZX2+ offers a single mode that handles clockwise (CW) or counterclockwise (CCW) files of various sizes, reportedly eliminating the need for frequent adjustments and allowing dentists to focus on the treatment process.

Manabu Ehara, Senior Vice President for MORITA, stated, “This handpiece is now in its third generation. Our research and development team focused on optimizing the motor’s efficiency, aligning with our motto: ‘Endo. Optimized.’ The compatibility with popular reciprocation files is a crucial enhancement. The Tri Auto ZX2+ will streamline the root canal procedure and further strengthen MORITA’s position in the endodontic market.”

Optimum Torque Reverse Technology

Equipped with Optimum Torque Reverse (OTR) technology, the Tri Auto ZX2+ is said to offer enhanced safety and efficient canal preparation. The technology maintains continuous rotation until encountering resistance in the curved and challenging parts of the canal. By alternating between forward and reverse rotation based on the file load, the motor demonstrates sensitivity, preventing jamming and file breakage. The OTR mode now supports both rotary and reciprocation files, and the cutting angle can be adjusted as needed.

The Tri Auto ZX2+ incorporates a built-in apex locator that leverages MORITA’s technology. The motor integrates with the canal measurement function, providing real-time visualization of the file tip’s position inside the canal on the display. This feature enhances accuracy, says the company, and facilitates precise treatment planning and execution.

MORITA will present the Tri Auto ZX2+ at the upcoming CDA Presents Anaheim meeting from May 18-20, 2023. Dental professionals attending the event will have the opportunity to witness a live demonstration of the handpiece at booth #2138. Additionally, MORITA will offer a complimentary gift to dentists visiting their booth during the event.
