King Saud University Sets Guinness Record for Largest Dental Hospital

King Saud University has clinched a prestigious Guinness World Record for operating the largest dental hospital globally. Dr. Abdullah bin Muhammad Al-Saqr, Vice President for Projects, received the recognition on behalf of the university’s President. 

The College of Dentistry Hospital, situated within the University Medical City, spans an impressive area of 37,165.12 square meters. A ceremony commemorating this achievement was graced by distinguished personalities, including Prof. Yazid bin Abdulmalik Al Al-Sheikh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, and Prof. Ahmed bin Salah Harsi, the Chief Executive Director of the University Medical City, among others.

Commitment to Excellence

Prof. Ahmed bin Salah Harsi highlighted King Saud University’s dedication to enhancing healthcare services, educational programs, and scientific research. He emphasized the institution’s commitment to achieving excellence and improving quality standards in alignment with evolving scientific advancements and operational requirements.

Success Factors and Progress

Prof. Saleh bin Abdulrahman bin Saleh, the Executive Director of Strategic Planning at the University Medical City, attributed the institution’s success to divine support and steadfast leadership. He highlighted significant progress across health, academic, research, technical, and administrative domains. 

He stated, “Our progress across health, academic, research, technical, and administrative domains reflects our commitment to addressing community needs and fostering scientific research.”

The infrastructure development and expansion of health services have been pivotal in addressing community needs while focusing on scientific research, health education, training, and financial sustainability. Prof. Saleh expressed pride in the University Medical City’s global standing, securing the 64th position globally and the third spot locally, according to the FINANCE BRAND ranking.

Prof. Sarah bint Abdulrahman Al-Sabit, the Medical Director of the University Dental Hospital, affirmed the institution’s position as one of the largest in the field of dentistry, covering a substantial area of 37,165.12 square meters. 

She said, “The hospital provides comprehensive services encompassing education, training, surgery, and evidence-based advisory services. 

“We are proud to offer specialized clinics catering to diverse needs, including cleft lip and palate, dentistry for patients with special needs, oral and facial pain, dental care for patients with special health conditions, and autism-related dental care.”
