Panda Scanner releases PANDA P3 intraoral scanner

China digital dental technology company Panda Scanner (formerly known as Freqty Pingtum) has released the PANDA P3 Scanner, a more lightweight and updated version of the PANDA P2 3D digital intraoral scanner.

Just like its predecessor, the PANDA P3 Scanner features 3 tips with different angles designed to meet the exacting demands of various applications, suitable for use on both adults and children.

Continuous stereo photography technology

Based on independent research and development of projection chip modules, the scanner uses continuous stereo photography technology to obtain image information to achieve what is touted as ‘one frame, one calculation’ scans.

According to the company, the optical distortion of the calibration algorithm of the autonomous projection system is controllable to ensure high-precision three-dimensional imaging.

During the scanning process, the buccal muscles, tongue and other soft tissues – and the gloves – are automatically ‘removed’ from the scanning data, thus preventing invalid data from interfering with the scan while preserving the data of the gum region.

Streamlined design and one-key operation

According to the company, the streamlined design is more compact, easy to handle and conforms to the dexterous demands of rigorous dental work.

The PANDA P3 can be easily connected to the Bamboo intraoral scanner to easily share high-resolution images and high-precision 3D data output. The 3D view of the patient’s oral structure can be seen on the high-definition touch screen for quick diagnosis.

Based on customer feedback, the PANDA P3 now features a single-button that controls multiple functions with a single click, double click and long press. Along with new motion-sensing gyroscope functions, the PANDA 3 is also more compact and lightweight – it weighs 228 grams, having shaved off 18 grams.

Complementing the one-key operation is the fully automatic five-dimensional calibrator, which realizes complex and high-precision calibration operations, making the device more convenient and intelligent.

PANDA P3 to offer ‘maximum value’

The PANDA P3 was showcased at the Greater New York Dental Meeting last week.

The PANDA P1 intraoral scanner was introduced 5 years ago, followed by the popular PANDA 2 (more than 3000 units installed) in 2021. The PANDA P3 is said to “create maximum value for every user”.

The new AI-powered intraoral scanner also features: Clear margin line (full HD color) for high accuracy; fast scanning speed; powder-free and true color scans. According to Panda, full arch scanning can be completed in just 1-2 minutes.
