Provisional Merit List for Punjab Government Medical and Dental Colleges Released

PAKISTAN: The University of Health Sciences (UHS) in Punjab has unveiled the provisional merit list for admissions into government medical and dental colleges, revealing a remarkable merit exceeding 91 percent for the current year. 

The list, available on the UHS website, encompasses the top 5000 eligible candidates and is applicable for both open merit and reserved seats.

Admissions Breakdown

Out of the provisional merit list, 3389 candidates are set to secure admissions in MBBS and BDS courses, which are offered across 16 public sector medical colleges and three dental colleges. 

The expected merit for open merit MBBS seats stands at 91.3 percent, while for BDS, it is at 91.1 percent. The merit calculation involves an aggregate percentage, comprising 10 percent of SSC, 40 percent of HSSC, and 50 percent of MDCAT marks obtained by the candidates.

Objection Period and Online Complaints

Candidates have a 48-hour window to raise objections regarding the provisional merit list. The UHS spokesperson emphasized that objections will only be entertained through the online complaint portal. 

It is mandatory for complainants to upload relevant documentary evidence along with their objections. The university will meticulously review all objections, and the final merit list is scheduled for release on December 12.

Admissions Process and College Preferences

Admissions to medical and dental colleges will be based on the final merit list, taking into account candidates’ preferences for colleges. The first selection list for medical college allotment is slated for release on December 15. 

This process marks a crucial step in the academic journey for aspiring medical and dental students in Punjab, determining their placements in prestigious institutions based on their academic achievements and preferences.
