Korea: The 20th Seoul International Dental Equipment Exhibition, known as SIDEX 2023, commenced with a grand opening ceremony at the COEX Convention & Exhibition Center in Seoul. The event gathered dental professionals and industry representatives to provide insights into the cutting-edge developments in the dental field.

Extensive Range of Products

With a total of 212 companies and 1,030 booths, SIDEX 2023 showcased an extensive range of dental equipment and products. This year’s exhibition drew significant attention, particularly as it was one of the first SIDEX events following the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I am proud that many people participated this time,” expressed Park Tae-geun, President of the association, emphasizing the growth of K-dentistry and the significant progress made by the dental industry.

At the exhibition booths, dental companies such as DENTIS, OSSTEM, and GENORAY showcased new products, provided personalized consultations, and organized promotional activities. Participants showed keen interest in the demonstrations and engaged in discussions regarding the future direction of the dental industry.

Academic Conference and Lectures 

SIDEX 2023 presented an enriching academic conference alongside the exhibition, aiming to enhance the clinical abilities of dental practitioners. With the theme “Seek Inspiring & Delightful Experiences,” a total of 74 lectures were scheduled to cover various topics. These included clinical subjects such as maxillary sinus situations, vertical bone augmentation techniques, as well as cultural lectures on communication with the Millennial Generation and dental insurance.

Dr Haston Liu, honorary chairman of the Hong Kong Dental Association, highlighted the significance of SIDEX 2023, stating, “SIDEX has greatly contributed to the development of the domestic dental industry.”

President Kang Hyun-gu of the Seoul Dental Association also acknowledged the growth of SIDEX, which has reportedly become the 8th largest dental equipment exhibition globally, attracting over 30,000 participants, including dentists and dental professionals.

Foreign participants flocked to SIDEX 2023, reflecting the exhibition’s international appeal. Many attendees eagerly registered at the entrance, while others seized the opportunity to interact with booth representatives from various dental companies. The event facilitated meetings with overseas dental organizations, further fostering international collaboration in the field.

Seoul Night Event

To celebrate the opening of SIDEX 2023, the “Seoul Night” event was held on the first day of the exhibition. This event is aimed at welcoming dental professionals from around the world and expressing gratitude. After being significantly scaled down or omitted in previous years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Seoul Night was brought back in its usual capacity this year. 

Seoul Night featured various celebratory performances, creating a vibrant atmosphere for participants. The event was attended by domestic and international dignitaries, including Han Jung-ae, a member of the ruling Democratic Party, mayors of cities such as Daegu, Incheon, Daejeon, Ulsan, Chungnam, Jeonnam, and Gyeongbuk, presidents of dental schools, and alumni association presidents. Overseas buyers and dental association representatives from countries such as China, Japan, the United States, and Germany were also in attendance.

SIDEX 2023’s Seoul Night event served as a memorable gathering, fostering connections among dental professionals, and aimed to reinforce the exhibition’s position as a global platform for innovation and knowledge exchange in the dental industry.
