3Shape releases TRIOS 5 Wireless

The new TRIOS 5 Wireless from 3Shape is an intraoral scanner designed to ease the dentist’s transition into digital dentistry.

Featuring the all-new ScanAssist intelligent alignment technology, TRIOS 5 Wireless is said to enable faster and smoother scanning. Its redesigned housing – more compact and hygienically optimized – delivers improved imaging performance and infection control. ScanAssist function also minimizes misalignment and distortion in 3D models, allowing users to scan patients in any direction – by simply creating a scan path that best suits.

The digital impression taking process is further enhanced by an LED ring and haptic sensory feedback, which serve as important guides during the scans.

Over 50 enhanced features

According to a press release from 3Shape, TRIOS 5 Wireless features over 50 improvements in ease of use and design, and is also said to be the smallest and lightest scanner to date.

The new intraoral scanner also features a closed autoclavable scanner tip protected by scratch-free sapphire glass – which includes thin and transparent single-use sleeves to cover the scanner body thus minimizing risk of cross-contamination.

“Most streamlined scanner ever”

Touted as 3Shape’s “most streamlined scanner ever”, the pen-grip style scanner, weighing just 10.6 ounces (with battery), is optimally balanced to fit comfortably in the hand. The scanner is also calibration free, meaning it’s not necessary to calibrate after a certain number of scans.

The portable and compact (10.5 inches long) device can be taken anywhere – using TRIOS Share, users are able to scan from every PC in the practice. The TRIOS Share wireless scanning technology enables you to scan and plan with your TRIOS 5 Wireless from any PC anywhere in your practice using Wi-Fi.

Free 3Shape Unite platform

Like all 3Shape TRIOS scanners, TRIOS 5 Wireless comes with the 3Shape Unite platform at no extra charge. TRIOS and 3Shape Unite allows seamless connection to over 2000 dental companies, treatment solutions, practice management systems, and labs – located as apps an open and collaborative platform.

To help with patient acceptance, the 3Shape engagement apps are included free with TRIOS 5 Wireless.
